Folding AA preflop
there is one time i would definitely fold pocket Aces preflop ( please dont everyone gang up on me at once )..This happened to my friend in a qualifying multi table satellite last year at the WSOP. My friend Judd got AA preflop and was raised by the chip leader. Judd is 2nd in chips by alot at the table. There are 11 people left in the tournament and the final EIGHT get a seat in the main event. Judd reraises with the Aces only to be pushed all in. He mucks his aces without showing anyone. As crazy as this sounds, itoo would fold here too because there is no monetary value in winning this satellite. The top 8 all get the same prize, and i would let the other short stacks drop off if i had as big a chip advantage as he did. I feel like it would be a bigger gamble to take a 20% chance of getting busted right there than it would be to let the other players drop out. Note that this is the ONLY time i would ever fold pocket aces..and i understand if you still think im nuts. Oh yea, he also ended up finishing 3rd in the satellite and got a seat in the main event.

You have to look at your odds... There is an interview with Dutch where they talk about folding the AA.
There are times where it is the choice to do; very hard choice.
But sign of a good->great player is to make a lay down.
Takes a lot more to lay something down then to just push it forward...

I completely agree that knowing when to lay your cards down makes you a great player long term, but folding AA preflop?

No, that would still be a bad laydown. Never fold bullets preflop, because you are a good player when you get your money in with the best hand. If you get sucked out, then you still made the right move. I do not consider it to be a good laydown

RE: Folding AA preflop
i understand the reasoning of just waiting for the shortstacks to get out of the tourney...but i would rather go in with this hand and try to get more chips so u are even more guaranteed a seat...

RE: Folding AA preflop
As a rule i never fold aces preflop, although i can see why that person did considering the tourney he was in.
